This past week went by in a baking flurry!
First up:
A sweet husband asked me to make his beautiful (and new mommy to a new--their 4th--baby!) a birthday cake. He wanted it to have birds on it, sent me a link to what he had in mind. He also wanted it to have her favorite flavors (marzipan, chocolate) and a sentimental touch...a croquembouche. I'll wait here while you go google that. Ok, you're back. They had one as their wedding cake. Now everyone at once, "awwww!". Seriously, he must've gained 1 million husband points for this one!
Cake details: Chocolate cake, raspberry filling, chocolate swiss meringue buttercream frosting, marzipan covering and a delicious croquembouche on top!
I had lots of fun trying out spinning sugar and using marzipan!!
Next up: My second child's little preschool party. She requested puppy dog cupcakes for the boys and kitty cat cupcakes for the girls (or, "Titty tat tuptakes for da durls"). So I made up some little cupcakes for her friends.
