A friend of mine had mentioned a month or so ago that her girls were planning a Harry Potter birthday party in October. I immediately thought, "Oh! How fun, what kind of cake would you make for that?!" and I went looking at ideas. She didn't ask for a cake and I set the idea aside. Fastforward to last weekend, she asked me if I could come up with something in 1 week for her girls. She has a new baby and trying to get a party together and everything else...well, we all know that feeling! So I told her I'd see what I could come up with. I REALLY wanted to try a sorting hat. The rest was somewhat hodge-podged together in my mind. I had no clue if my little mental plan would pan out, but it did! I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The hat is made using Rice Krispy treat and the book is the cake...vanilla buttermilk and american vanilla bean buttercream. Lots of chocolate MMF here, too.
In the midst of that, there were 2 little boys (twins) who needed some cupcake love for their Transformer & Dalmatian birthdays! 3 dozen cupcakes, 2 little boys, 1 party! How fun!!
